Grace Church and St. Stephen’s Church in Colorado Springs
by admin on Feb.13, 2010, under General, Weddings
Later in the year I have the honor of shooting a wedding for Shelby and Joel at the Grace Church and St. Stephen’s Church in Colorado Springs, http://www.graceststephensepiscopal.org/
So I thought I might head down there and take a few pictures as I have not shot a wedding there yet.
Here are just a few I thought I would share.
Really looking forward to shooting their wedding at this beautiful church!
This was actually shot in the middle of the day, I just though it looked a little more interesting with a slight sunset colors

Not a lot of new pictures to post lately, so thought I would share a drive we did today. I met up with some friends and ran the Metberry Gulch trail, it was a pretty easy trail but very scenic and Riley loved the river at the end. It would make a great place for a picnic.

Colorado Paint Mines

Yesterday I took a little trip out to the Paint Mines in Calhan Colorado.
I have never been here before so found it a fun place to explore.
I also thought I might elaborate a little on my shots and explain why I took it or how it was created.
This was actually shot in sunlight, I put my camera on a tripod , I closed down the aperture so the picture would be dark, I put my camera on a 2 second timer and quickly got into a position to light the sign with my flash. I also use this technique at weddings and it is a lot easier with an assistant to hold the flash for me.
This was made from 3 exposures and blended together, I liked the path leading my eye into the interesting formations.
Same technique as above, and actually I used this technique through out all the images except for the first and last images.
The sun was setting, so even though the foreground is kinda crappy, I still like this image.
I know its a no-no to have the horizon in the middle, but its the best crop I found and I like it

Just liking the colors at the Paint Mines and this image has a little depth to it.
Found this to be a really fun place to explore and will definitely go back when the wild flowers are blooming.
I decided to do something totally different with this image, I closed down the camera aperture to make this picture dark, then lit it with an off camera flash. It actually took 13 different exposures to light the various parts of the image, then I blended the lit portions of each image together in Photoshop being careful not to have me in any.
Rampart Range Drive

I went for a drive yesterday Monday March 2nd up Mt Herman and down balance rock road, I think thats rd 322.
Only just a small amount of light snow on Mt Herman but I did get stuck once in some snow getting back up and out on the balanced rock rd, was a chance to break out the winch for the first time.
Was an awesome hot day
And Riley had fun.
